Take your journaling to the next level by incorporating mixed media!

Learn the process of layering techniques with Acrylics in large watercolor Journals. Using mixed media, Randall Hasson incorporates lettering and calligraphy to help you create textural effects and your own personal, visual atmosphere within your artwork or your reflective writing.

The artist reveals his singular painting techniques with acrylics and mixed media to create depths of layers and textures with both text and imagery. In these journal sessions, he reveals ideas in how to build up both paints, inks and other media to enhance and sometimes obscure both calligraphy and handwriting.

The Layered Journal Course is for people who want to use color and imagery along with their written words.

Whether using simple lettering such as personal handwriting or working with calligraphy, creating depth and textures with acrylics and mixed media will enhance your journaling experience. Randall’s process will take away your fear of the blank page, and teach you why acrylics act the way they do. Knowing the “why” will allow you to improvise. You’ll learn how to fix mistakes, feature elements on the page, and create depth of color and unique textural effects.

A Variety of Approaches

We’ll also look at other methods of journaling. There are multiple ways to approach a journal, and we’ll feature some of the outstanding “journalists” working today. Their work is amazing, inspiring, and will help to motivate you by expanding your access to approaches and ideas you might want to incorporate into your artwork!
